Maharashtra SSC Grading System 2026
Students must secure a minimum of 35% marks in each subject individually, in both theory and practical components separately, to be declared pass. This is stricter than many other state boards that require only 33%.
| Percentage Range | Grade / Division |
| 75% and above | Distinction |
| 60% – 74% | First Class |
| 45% – 59% | Second Class |
| 35% – 44% | Pass Class |
| Below 35% in any subject | Fail |
Previous Year Pass Percentage
Looking at past results gives students a good idea of what to expect. Maharashtra usually records a high overall pass percentage in SSC exams.
In 2025, the Maharashtra SSC examination recorded an overall pass percentage of 94.10%, showing a slight decline from 95.81% in 2024. These numbers show that the vast majority of students pass the Maharashtra 10th board exam every year. Students who prepare well have a very strong chance of passing.
What to Do If You Fail in Some Subjects?
Failing in one or two subjects does not mean the end of the road. The Maharashtra board gives you another chance through the Supplementary Examination.
Students who do not meet the minimum passing criteria in one or more subjects will be required to appear for the SSC supplementary examinations, which are typically held in July 2026. If you pass the supplementary exam, you will be eligible for Class 11 admissions without losing a whole academic year.
You can also apply for revaluation if you feel your marks are lower than expected. The process for revaluation and verification is available on the official board website at mahresult.nic.in.
What to Do After Getting Your Result?
Your 10th result opens many doors. Here is what you should focus on after the result comes out.
First, check your result carefully and download it. Then start looking at options for Class 11 admission in your preferred stream — Science, Commerce, or Arts. Many junior colleges in Maharashtra start their admission process very quickly after the SSC result. Do not delay.
If you want to pursue a technical career, look into diploma programs at polytechnic institutes. These are also open to 10th pass students and lead to good job opportunities.
